Paz Die Dean and LOC met the artists in Lisbon as they flew in from their various destinations in Europe. It was a first visit for most of the artists, and they enjoyed the tour around the city eventually meeting up at 11pm in a bar chosen by Portugese and Lisbon based Ana Aguiar where traditional Portugese food was served. The Ligacao Symposium had begun. The journey to Elvas in the North of Portugal begun at 2am and eventually arriving at our destination at the "Herdade das Defesinhas" at 5am. A quick look at the studio space ready for work tomorrow, and then to bed. Most had been travelling for 24 hours and more. We woke to a hot sunny day to find ourselves in the magnificent setting of Herdade das Defisinhas. A rough translation in English would be 'The Homestead of Defesinhas' which to my eyes we appeared to be on a rather large cattle ranch running 600 head of cattle and rearing the famous black pig fed on acorns from the oak trees that were all over the grazing land to make the famous The artists came from Portugal, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Spain and Wales joined by musician Melanie Carona Belgium based in Portugal. |
