The artists’ Brief – Absence/Substance - indicates our aim as an artists’ network to deal with the contemporary issues that are in some ways analogous to the virtual world produced by computer generated software. It is somehow there and real and somehow it is pure ether. The work chosen will explore this phenomenon within a wide range of interpretation. In line with our aim to make as light a carbon footprint as possible all selected works must fit into a volume limit of 0.5 cubic metres and not weigh more that 10 Kilo grams. |

ICAW’s last event which took place in Harlech in 2009 featured a REAL-TIME element using SKYPE as a ‘High Tec’ – ‘Low Cost’ – ‘Low Carbon’ means of communication with regions in Europe in REAL-TIME. ABSENCE/SUBSTANCE aims at developing the REAL-TIME SKYPE connection to be shown in exhibition spaces in Europe along with work in 'REAL SPACES'. Work shown will be to a size and weight specification. Delivery by postal services. Exhibition of new work in REAL-TIME SKYPE and REAL SPACES. Artists will be invited to take part on the basis that the exhibition title Absence/Substance will inform the Artists’ Brief along with a size and weight constraint as part of the ‘LOW CARBON’ aims of the exhibition.
