NEXO 2006 - Toledo, Espana developed, organised and delivered by Fernando Barredo de Valenzuela and Juan Giordano took place in the picturesque and historic city of Toledo, Spain. Once a centre where citizens of different ethnic and religious beliefs lived and worked in harmony. This project achieved many cultural goals, which in turn has given rise to other initiatives to celebrate cultural differences in Europe and beyond. These events organised by artists also bring many economic benefits to all the regions represented by the artists on the residencies. Harlech Biennale will be seeking along with NEXO to further develop the project to enhance the notion that art in the 21 Century has an important role to play in making a positive input in the evolving and fast moving times we live in.

Coordinates project description One role for artists’ is to add a dynamic to society and to encourage confidence to take onboard new experiences rather than to stay with culturally established norms.
The thinking behind Geographical relevance: Reference to place is part of the ‘Coordinates’ brief. Exploring means of innovation and expression of visual and conceptual experiences that working in an unfamiliar environment opens up. Working outside the normal studio situation creates new possibilities for cultural synergies to form the content of the work.

AP Artists Proof Ein Hod, Israel 2007

Levendel Bloch Gallery, Ein Hod, Israel. Organised and Curated by Nechama Levendel and Nadav Bloch.

During July 1-10 2007, an international gathering of artists took place in Ein Hod , Israel . The participating countries : England , Poland , Spain , El Salvador , Italy , Rumania , Kosovo , USA , Israel .

Some summers are easily forgotten and some are indelibly inscribed in our memory. If the summer of 2006 recalls difficlties and conflict in Lebanon, the summer of 2007 will be synonomous with Nahama and Nadav's pilot project that went by the name of "Artist Proof." Working tirelessly and endlessly, they managed to organize funding, space and the necessary conditions to invite l0 artists from all over the world to the small village of Ein Hod where, for more than one week, an atmosphere of creativity and an exchange of ideas and techniques was created:-

"Being a skeptic at the beginning but a total convert at the end, I can honestly say that these l0 days was indeed an exhilarating experience as an artist. So thank you, Nahama and Nadav and to all those who participated and to all those in Ein Hod who helped make this a memorable experience".

Art Colony Galicnik Macedonia 2005
Curated by Ana Frangkovska
"I, and everyone else there absorbed the warm Galicnik welcome. Sharing with foreign friends - we were literally embraced by Ana and Nove. Then visibly moved we sought to express the beauty of the unspoken word.
It was the synthesis of mood and shared precious space that transformed the commonplace and gave a key. A key to let go, a key to unlock the synergy of time and place, and feel the energy of Art Colony Galichnik." John Brown
